Eat all the THINGS!

When you live in a foreign country, the littlest things make you happy. My husband found this Brazilian market close to our house and then he brought me there last weekend. Cookies, Brazilian soda (so delicious and with no caffeine, it's made from a fruit), cookies, juice, cheese bread mix, and one thing that I was never able to find here: Brazilian beer. Not that it's some amazing beer or anything - but the fact that it is from Rio is enough for me. The croquettes on the last picture didn't last in our house for 24 hours. We fried them soon after coming back from the market. Good food makes me happy, but Brazilian food makes me extra happy!

Double-date.

Last weekend, I had the chance to meet a fellow blog friend: Melody. Our husbands tagged along and we had such a great time. It's always kind of scary when you meet someone for the first time in person, but there were no awkward moments there!
Also, the pizza place looked really cool. I really liked the beer bottle wall and the pizza was delicious as well. It gets harder and harder to meet new people as you get older, so I'm glad we met them! Yay for blogging bringing people closer!

Dear blogging,

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. 20 days to be more exact. That goes against everything that I wrote on my last post: blog more, document this season of our life with my "big girl camera". But life is been busy, which is a good thing. After spending eight hours in front of a computer, opening the laptop at home is the last thing I want to do. Despite not feeling like blogging most days, I really want to get back into my journaling phase. I love looking through old posts and seeing what life was like when we first got married. Most of the first year and a half of our married life has been documented here and it's always so fun to look back.

For that reason, I want to remember this moment. I want to remember that it's finally warm again here. Not that it was ever really cold - we're in California after all. But the temperature has been in the 80s and that feels so nice. I never realized how much I liked the sun until I moved away from Brazil.

we made sure to get out of the house on the first day of 75 degree weather

I want to remember that this season has been busy. Maybe the house isn't as clean and the meals aren't as elaborate, but sometimes all we need is to curl up together on the couch and talk about our days. Laundry can always wait. I want to remember that this month was a big month for our family: we will have a sister-in-law next year! Weddings are always exciting, especially when the one getting married is so close to you.
I want to remember Saint Patrick's day. I had this idea of Irish car bomb cupcakes, that ended up becoming guiness chocolate muffins, all because I was too tired to make ganache and buttercream. It was still good though. That taught me a lesson about being overly ambitious. My brother-in-law was in town. The three of us headed to the St. Patrick's Day Festival, caught up and had some Irish drinks and food.

I want to remember that this month was my first time at the ballet! It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. And I'm not saying that for emphasis. It was really that beautiful and the Opera House in San Francisco is a magnificent building.

(That's the City Hall, not the Opera House, but another great-looking building as well)

I want to remember that this was the first year that Cal Poly participated in the NCAA tournament. Hubby was happy. Their participation didn't last long, but it was nice to see them be part of it, even if for just one game. (We are still cheering for Stanford!)
I want to remember making Brazilian Easter eggs with my friends. I feel so thankful to have them! I also want to remember eating dinner for the first time outside. Welcome, spring!

I also want to remember celebrating five years of living in California! I can't believe it's been that long. We celebrated with some good ol' Mexican food.

So, my friends, that's what has been happening around here. Sorry for the gigantic post! Now I'm off to catch up with what has been going on with y'all :) xx

March goals

Hello!

I've always liked writing this sort of post, since it creates accountability. Sharing my goals with you guys (and simply the act of writing them down), makes it more likely for me to follow through with them!

This month, I'll keep it short and sweet:

1) Blog more. I miss taking pictures with my "big girl camera" and writing down bits and pieces of our life. I don't intend to be strict about a schedule or anything like that, but I definitely want to get back into the habit of blogging.
2) Exercising! This one has been said a million times by me and by everybody else. However, I need to make a conscious effort and try. One day I'll find something I enjoy and will stick to a routine.
3)Shop goals: Spring sale and new spring line! Items that are ready-to-ship will have their price reduced down a lot, so it will be a good way to stock on things for next year. And I'm really excited about the spring line! It is all made with this really soft light yarn, so perfect for the little ones. I'll post more about them soon.

PS: This month I'm planning on finally getting to a blog redesign and a change of name. I'm not a newlywed anymore, so it doesn't feel quite right. So don't get scared if you see everything looks different. The old url will redirect to the new one :)

3rd anniversary in Napa Valley

This year, we wanted to get away for our anniversary (since it usually falls on President's day weekend), but we didn't want to go far. It had been a while since we had been to Napa, so we thought the long weekend would be a good opportunity to do so.
The weather was so nice and even though the wineries were crowded because of the holiday, it was a perfect weekend. We got some free stuff when we happened to mention it was our anniversary, like these "shots" of wine served in a chocolate cup and the red champagne you see above (sorry about the lipstick marks and fingerprints!).
Now, can we just address the fact that M and I have been married for a whole THREE years? It feels like so long and not long at all, at the same time. I can't go on about marriage too much here. This might turn into the mushiest post ever. So, here, happy 3 years, my love! It's been an amazing journey and I can't wait for the adventures that await for us!

PS: This is my 600th post! And yesterday was my 3rd blog-iversary! Who would think I'd stick around for so long?! Thank your for being here and listen while I ramble on about life :)
